Shovel Knight is brimming with cheat codes - more than 300 collected in this Google Doc so far - but the most adorable, childishly hilarious code unlocks Butt Mode, a cheat that replaces recurring nouns in the game with the word "butt." It's like reading a Harry Potter book and replacing every instance of the word "wand" with "wang." Or playing Mad Libs. Either way, this is comedy gold.

Access Butt Mode in Shovel Knight by entering "X&BUTT" or "WSWWAEAW" in the name entry screen. As with all cheat codes in Shovel Knight, applying Butt Mode means you won't be able to complete any "feats," the game's achievements.

Yacht Club Games tweeted the cheat code this week, and CastleGeekSkull shows off Butt Mode on YouTube, proving that yes, it is as funny as it sounds. And we are all 6 years old. See that video below.[Image: Yacht Club Games]

Today of all days, America needs you to sign up and do your duty. By which we mean sign up to try the Evolve alpha, which this Euro reporter sadly notes is limited to North America.

Personal grievances aside, here's what you need to do for a chance of being selected. Head to the sign-up site, and when asked enter the password "happyhunting" and referral code "JoinTheHunt" along with all required details. Also, make sure you have a Steam account as you'll need one. 2K Games aims to have its participant list nailed down by tomorrow, July 5, so don't procrastinate before you celebrate today.

The Humble Store is currently hosting a particularly patriotic event, dubbed the DRM Freedom Sale, to celebrate the Fourth of July. The sale features games like Broforce, Surgeon Simulator 2013 and Retro City Rampage, discounted by up to 85 percent.

Not only can you feel free to use the money you'll save on some sweet explosion-rockets, but you can feel good about yourself too, as 10 percent of the proceeds go to charity.

You might want to hurry though; like a red, white and blue firework in the night sky - this deal will only exist for a short while. Quakecon attendees will get an exclusive first look at the new Doom when it's debuted at the Dallas convention on July 17. Then, through the power of smartphones, everyone else will get a not-so-exclusive second look in the days following.

Snarkiness aside, the Doom reveal will be the major draw for what is a packed Zenimax convention. Other highlights include a Zenimax Online Studios panel on the future of Elder Scrolls Online, and a "Designing the Perfect Game" panel in which the panelists will design a game concept to be judged by Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart. Attendees will also be able to get their hands on Mikami horror The Evil Within and take part in a tournament for melee-heavy multiplayer game Battlecry. Check out the full schedule here.

Wildlife antagonists can already reserve Far Cry 4's Kyrat Edition, which includes the Himalayan adventure, bonus missions following Far Cry 3's harpoon gun-equipped Hurk, a physical travel journal, a propaganda poster and an 8-inch figurine of villain Pagan Min perched on an elephant's trunk. As extensive as the offering is, it lacks the season pass, Future Pack metal box and collector's case offered in the EMEA region-exclusive Ultimate Kyrat Edition, which a press release states is exclusively available through the UPlay Shop for PS4, Xbox One and PC at £89.99.

GameStop lists Far Cry 4's season pass as a $30 (£18) purchase, which should help you decide whether there's value in upgrading from the less-than-ultimate, season pass-less Kyrat Edition. Of course, we still don't know what the pass' content even involves - if you're not one for trust falls and can't justify the elaborate Kyrat Edition, you can still get Hurk's harpoon gun and his trio of missions by pre-ordering a regular copy of Far Cry 4.[Image: Ubisoft]

Larian Studios' Kickstarted RPG, Divinity: Original Sin, has debuted to sales of 160,000 copies. After leaving early access and officially launching on June 30, Original Sin quickly became Larian's fastest-selling game, reports Eurogamer. Original Sin's success is thanks to "word of mouth" driven by the game's Kickstarter and Steam early access communities, according to Larian head Swen Vincke.

Following earlier reports that hyper-kinetic anime fighter Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution would be hitting Western shores, Bandai Namco has made things official by announcing that the game will reach the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on September 16.

To celebrate the imminent arrival of the game's cel-shaded fisticuffs, Bandai Namco has also issued a bevy of media, including the trailer seen above and the nearly two-dozen screenshots in the gallery below. Additionally, the publisher has outlined the game's pre-order bonuses: Best Buy and Futureshop are offering four summer-themed costumes, Amazon has three samurai-inspired costumes and GameStop offers customers an exclusive "Japanese Mecha-Naruto" poster.

If you'd rather not fork over early cash for the game, Bandai Namco is also offering a few bonuses to anyone who picks up the game at launch, including a short Naruto anime featurette and costume DLC that sees the titular orange ninja swapping costumes with Sasuke while Itachi Uchiha dons the fetching Akatsuki apron.[Image: Bandai Namco]

Dota 2's world championship tournament, AKA: The International, will feature a "Newcomer's Broadcast" this year to help those unfamiliar with the game's extensive jargon acronyms keep up with the action.

"New to Dota? Or maybe you play Dota but have never gotten interested in the professional side of the game," an overview page for The International reads. "Welcome to the Newcomer's Broadcast, an English stream happening alongside the main stream, featuring commentary aimed at easing people into understanding the exciting world of BKBs, tri-lanes, and counter-picks." In other words, if you just scratched your head at those last three concepts, the Newcomer Broadcast sounds like the place to be.

For those who couldn't snatch tickets in time to attend The International 2014 in-person at the Seattle Key Arena on July 18 - 21 but don't need the difference between "bot" and "BoT" explained, Valve is also introducing DVR broadcasts and a multicast feature that recaps the tournament's highlights this year.[Image: Valve]JoystiqDota 2 embraces newcomers with International broadcast originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 05 Jul 2014 12:30:00 EST. Plague Inc.'s concerningly-enthusiastic virus makers have smothered humanity in quite a few viruses, but they've yet to spread an epidemic that threatens to reassign apes as the world's dominant species. That's about to change, thanks to an update themed after the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which should be available "very soon" for the mobile Plague Inc. and its PC and Mac counterpart, Plague Inc.: Evolved. It will also be a threat in the to-be-released Xbox One version of Evolved.

Once the update adds the Simian Flu to a player's arsenal, it can be used against humanity as a lethal virus and as a supplementary aide to the spread of ape colonies. The press release notes tactical options like sending apes to attack research labs, hiding colonies from military drones and migrating to spare groups from experiment-happy scientists.

We're wondering if an update to an update is out of the question - specifically, if we could get an additional movie tie-in with The Wizard of Oz, so that our ape colonies could sprout wings and don silly little vests. Maybe airborne origins would help us finally bring the impenetrable fortress known as Greenland to its knees ...[Image: Pandemic Creations]

Spoilers are generally frowned upon, but we're ready to make an exception when it's the central theme of the game in question. Case in point: Spoiler Alert, a game played in reverse.

In this self-described "comedy platformer," you un-shoot fireballs, un-throw hammers and give bosses their lives back on your un-quest to un-rescue Princess Tomato. The game features 100 levels spread across four worlds, but you can create your own using the included level editor as well.

Spoiler Alert is developed by two-man Danish studio MegaFuzz and published by tinyBuild Games, the studio behind No Time To Explain and the upcoming JetGetters. It un-made its way to Steam earlier this week and is currently on sale for $6.39 - 20 percent off - until July 7.[Image: MegaFuzz/tinyBuild Games]

Despite hardware refinements and positive impressions, the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is not yet intended for consumers. That hasn't stopped VR enthusiasts from wanting to snatch up the device ASAP though, and where there is demand, there will be people seeking (not always legitimate) supply. Such is unfortunately the case with China, where Oculus has suspended sales of the Dev Kit 2 version of the Rift due to what a company representative called "extreme reseller purchases."

"We need to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that resellers that are looking to flip our product for a profit are not taking stock away from legitimate developer purchases globally," the Oculus rep wrote. "Our product, in its current form, is a developer kit, meant for developers that develop VR content. We are looking into alternative ways to make sure that our development kits are getting into legitimate developer hands in China."

When asked just how bad the reselling situation was, the rep responded, "We were forced to suspend an entire country from purchasing. I'll let you put two and two together." So ... not good?[Image: Oculus]JoystiqOculus VR suspends Rift sales in China due to scalpers originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 05 Jul 2014 20:30:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Capture points and kill players to take down the Emblem. By Leah B. Jackson Games of Glory, the upcoming futuristic MOBA from Lightbulb Crew, puts a few spins on the traditional MOBA formula. I recently played a couple matches of the alpha version of Capture the Points mode, and was able to get a very early feel for what the bright and technological MOBA is trying to accomplish.

The core gameplay is quite different than what you'll find in a MOBA like League of Legends or Dota 2. Instead of a long lane game, your main goal is to complete objectives in order to overcome the enemy's base.

You take the role of characters called Clones, which are divided in to tanks, assassins, scouts, carries, and supports. Tanks are bulky defensive characters, designed to take a lot of damage. Assassins and scouts are the damage dealers with some versatile combat manuevers. Carries are geneerally pretty weak at the start of the game and ramp up in damage as things progress, while supports help out on the battlefield, offering heals and aid, in addition to some combat buffs.

I played as a ranged carry named Pinto in the first game, who could jump over walls and attack enemies with an aimed skillshot. He could also get all of his weapon energy back instantly, which was incredibly helpful for taking down unlikely opponents, but more on that later.

Carte_captureIn the Capture the Points map, two teams of five are ultimately trying to destroy the opposing team's base. The twist is you can't touch the enemy base until your team takes down the other team's forcefield, which is done by capturing and holding three areas in the middle of the map. For each second your team holds a control point, the other team's forcefield starts ticking down from 1,000 to 0.

Once the forcefields are gone completely, your team can proceed to attack the Emblem, or core, of the other team's base. If you can destroy the Emblem, your team wins.

By taking down an enemy player, the other team's forcefield will go down by five points, giving additional incentive to go after kills. To help bolster your team's offense, you can capture up to two gold points that passively generate additional income as long they're under your control.

The capture points and gold points randomly reset throughout the match, so you and your team will constantly be battling to hold as many points as possible. Additionally, minions will spawn in the control point areas during each match. They're tough at the beginning of the game, but important, as items give you a big leg up.

Games of Glory plays more like an action RPG than your typical MOBA. As such, weapons and movement control differently in this game than what you might expect if you're used to playing MOBAs.

You'll have a variety of guns and melee weapons to take out the other team, and can have two weapon sets equipped at a time. What's nice is that you can swap between your primary and secondary sets at will. Guns have limited energy, or ammo, and interestingly enough, the way different types of guns shoot vary.

Quick-firing pistols are used by rapid-clicking your mouse, whereas with a sniper-rifle, you have to aim, hold down your mouse, and fire at maximum range if you want extra damage. This adds an additional layer of skill to Games of Glory, and I liked the optional complexity. If I wanted to simply right-click down enemies, I'd quickly tap D to switch to my melee weapon on my other weapon set, and slash for the win.

screenshot61Movement in Games of Glory is a bit strange at first, as you left click to move and right click to attack. After two games I began to get the hang of it, but it takes some getting used to. It definitely feels different than League of Legends or Dota 2, and while I understand that Lightbulb Crew wants Games of Glory to feel action-packed and unique with varying gunplay, I'm not sure if I'm on board with the decision to change up the familiar MOBA control scheme.

When you put everything together, the Capture the Points map in Games of Glory is intense, and there was always something for me to be doing which I liked. Whether I was going to capture one of the three center points, a gold point, or running off to try and nab a kill, I was constantly occupied throughout both 30-minute games I played, and am looking forward to testing out future modes, maps, and clones.

Mighty No. 9 developer Comcept USA gathered more than $4 million in its initial fundraising campaign for the Mega Man-esque sidescroller, but that pile of money could grow a little mightier. Comcept has announced a second, PayPal-powered funding campaign to cover additional stretch goals for Mighty No. 9, starting with a $100,000 target for English voice acting.

The update explains that anything collected in this new effort will only be used to address new features - the original donation total is still dedicated to the base game and the first round of stretch goals. According to the update, this second fundraiser is meant to allow anyone that missed the initial Kickstarter a chance to chip in to the project.

Newcomers will also be able to contribute by pre-ordering Mighty No. 9, with tokens being offered for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, 3DS, Wii U, PS3, PS4 and Vita versions. While a standard $23 pre-order tier only serves as a digital pre-order, two pricier options will contribute to the new round of stretch goals: a $50 tier that bundles a pre-order with a retro-themed manual, digital art book/strategy guide and soundtrack, and an $80 tier that offers the same content along with Early Access for Mighty No. 9 on Steam.

If you can't even fathom giving Comcept more money, there's still Digital Frontier's incoming animated series, which was revealed with the above video. A separate FAQ explains that Digital Frontier is "seeking investment" for this series, so no, your pledges shouldn't be siphoned off into a cartoon fund. The series is described as an "action-packed comedy aimed at kids 6-11," but the involved voice actors, directors, editors and a targeted release date are all to-be-announced.[Image: Digital Frontier]JoystiqMighty No. 9 gets additional stretch goals, animated series, pre-orders open originally appeared on Joystiq on Sun, 06 Jul 2014 10:30:00 EST. Ever find yourself playing a round of Dota 2 and think, "This is pretty alright, but what this game really needs is a kart racer spin-off"? Well lucky you, an enterprising player who goes by the handle "BMD" has created "Dota Dash," a mod that lets you experience what it would be like if Valve's multi-million dollar MOBA were given a blood transfusion from Mario Kart.

The mod keeps the familiar camera angle of the original game, while changing its controls and map to match its new genre. Although it currently lacks the depth and variety of courses and maps that would be seen in a full-fledged racing game, players can nonetheless feel free to cackle maniacally as they drop banana peels and shoot shells at their enemies.

There are several lines of communication through which you can learn more and contact those working on Dota Dash, including a Reddit thread and Steam Community page. If you're ready to skip all that and jump in, check out D2Moddin. It's been awhile since we heard from The TES Renewal Project regarding their mission to recreate The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind using the engine of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, but a new trailer reveals that the island nation of Morrowind isn't just continuing its extensive makeover, it's almost ready for visitors.

"Skywind," as the mod is known, is nearing public alpha release. But just how near is it, and what will it contain? Don't ask: "Do NOT inquire about it in the comments or the website yet, it will be revealed in time exactly what a public developer release is," reads the above dev video's YouTube description.

The mod has been in development for some time. As a fan project, it requires plenty of volunteers to create textures, models and do voice work. Which hey, would you look at that: there's a sign-up page for anyone with the talent and interest to do just that. Leliana, the Orlesian bard-turned-assassin who made her debut in Dragon Age: Origins
, will return to face down the series' flying, fire-breathing reptiles in Dragon Age: Inquisition. It's not clear whether Leliana will join the player-controlled Inquisitor as a party member, but the game's profile of her seems to suggest that the cheery woman players met in 2009 has undergone a change in personality.

Along with pictures showing her clad in hooded garments and a solemn stare, the official description tells the story of a woman not to be crossed: "She has many names. Most know her as 'Sister Nightingale' or 'the Left Hand of the Divine.' To the rare friend, she is Leliana," it reads. "Those who have earned her loyalty know her as a steadfast ally. But enemies of the Divine know to fear her, for she is the shadow behind the Sunburst Throne-the one who watches and waits, who strikes when her mark is most vulnerable and least suspecting."
